There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to wellness. Some of us feel our best taking daily yoga classes, trying out the latest juice cleanse and indulging in restorative spa treatments, while others look at wellness as the chance to explore the unknown and try out daring new activities, learning things about ourselves and the world along the way. So when it comes to taking a wellness vacation, why are we often pigeonholed into just one type of experience at a resort or on a retreat?

At Red Mountain Resort in Ivins, UT, wellness travel isn’t limited to simply yoga, health or spirituality (although it has plenty of all those essential things!). Instead, it’s a place to have a choose-your-own-adventure wellness retreat on a stunning Southwestern campus surrounded by vivid red rock cliffs.

Red Mountain Resort’s cozy accommodations make a relaxing home base for any style of retreat. Budget-conscious guests get great bang for their buck at the bright and cozy deluxe rooms, with writing desks, satellite TV, a personal fridge, spacious closets and cotton sheets. You could also splurge on a sweeping villa with a natural gas fireplace, deep soaking tub, fully equipped kitchenette, living and dining area and your own private balcony or patio. No matter which type of room you choose, expect plenty of serenity and comfort.

Restorative lodging is just the beginning what’s available at Red Mountain Resort, though. The biggest strength of this retreat center is its vast array of activities and experiences for guests. And fortunately, its popular Essential Retreat package gives guests access to nearly everything on the activities calendar, from morning hikes and fitness classes to personal discovery experiences and health workshops. With so many options that change on a daily basis, you might have to make some tough choices to squeeze everything into your schedule and design the retreat of your dreams.

Whether you crave an all-day adventure in nature, yoga classes followed by spa treatments, healthy meals with new friends or some combination, you can personalize the perfect wellness vacation at this resort. Here’s how.

Soak up the spa

Looking for full-body bliss? Red Mountain Resort’s Sagestone Spa {amp}amp;amp; Salon’s got you covered with a menu chock-full of nature-inspired body treatments and massages. The spa prides itself on holistic healing, so expect your treatment to focus as much on the{amp}amp;nbsp;mind as it does the body. Case in point: The Sleep Tonic Massage, a 75-minute body rubdown that uses a probiotic and flower essence, healing crystals and an oral spray to fully relax the mind and help you get the deepest sleep of your life. Sagestone also offers more traditional massages, along with glow-inducing body scrubs, soothing wraps, beautifying facials, nail treatments and hair services.

In addition to the spa, Red Mountain Resort also has two outdoor pools, one indoor pool and hot tubs where you can soak as long as you’d like.

Take an outdoor adventure

Just a stone’s throw away from Snow Canyon State Park and a short drive to Zion National Park, Red Mountain Resort is set in one of the most striking environments in the world. It takes advantage of the surrounding natural treasures by offering guests tons of outdoor activities. Each morning starts off with a garden walk or three-hour hike custom tailored to each guest’s individual level, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet other people and get an intimate look at the breathtaking striped red cliffs, lava caves and volcanic cones.

For more, choose from Red Mountain Resort’s other guided hikes, including a journey through the Zion Narrows, the chance to see petroglyphs, a gentle mindful hike with a sound bath and off-the-beaten-path treks through wilderness. The helpful front desk staff (who often double as hiking guides) can help you find the perfect option for your skill set.

Hiking’s not the only way to experience the outdoors with Red Mountain Resort, though. Adrenaline junkies are spoiled for choice with adventure excursions that range from half-day canyoneering and kayaking to rock climbing, sunset rappelling and biking. Each activity is hosted by experienced local guides who know how to keep you safe and create unforgettable experiences. If you’ve been wanting to try a new adventure activity, take the plunge and do it on a wellness retreat at Red Mountain Resort. You’ll leave feeling accomplished and invigorated.

Get in shape

No wellness retreat would be complete without opportunities to work up a sweat. Fortunately, Red Mountain Resort offers a variety of fun, challenging fitness classes throughout the day. It has the classic studio classes you’d expect, like Zumba, yoga flow, Pilates and cardio-strength circuit training. But there’s also a number of creative exercise classes on the calendar, as well. Drums Alive will help you burn stress (and calories!) by rhythmically beating a stability ball with drum sticks. The Rebounding class takes you straight back to childhood with trampoline-based exercises. And posture workshops will help you activate core strength to stand taller and walk with more confidence.

Red Mountain Resort’s empowering weight-loss programming complements its exercise classes by giving guests the tools they need to shed those stubborn pounds and keep them off. Unlike other weight-loss retreats, there’s no shame or blame here. Instead, weight-loss experts provide the emotional, physical and nutritional guidance guests need to work toward a healthy bodyweight. Drop in on one of the weight loss and mindful eating lectures for a taste of what this program’s all about, or consider signing up for a seven-night retreat focused exclusively on weight loss.

Fuel your body

The one thing all retreats at Red Mountain Resort have in common is nutrient-dense, flavor-packed food. It might be a health resort, but you won’t find bland “crunchy granola”-style food at the on-site restaurant, Canyon Breeze. Instead, the breakfast and lunch buffets offer healthy-ish versions of mealtime favorites like home fries, cinnamon-raisin French toast, egg quesadillas, salads, spiralized veggie noodles and tacos.

At dinnertime, Canyon Breeze transforms from a casual eatery into a gourmet dining experience (no pressure for guests to dress up, though!). The menu goes upscale with made-to-order meals, like molasses-seared venison with roasted shallots, yams dusted with cinnamon and Danish blue cheese, and pan-roasted Baja sea bass with a ragout of olives, fennel and fingerling potatoes, yellow grit cake, olive mayo and red pepper-peach marmalade.

Plant-based diners, eat your heart out: Canyon Breeze offers a separate vegetarian menu with just as much thought put into it as the main menu. Dig in to prickly-pear barbecue glazed tempeh with grilled golden pineapple, red chili pecan slaw and cornbread, or Sonoran tofu tacos with avocado crema, black charro-style beans, cotija cheese, pico de gallo, cilantro lime cabbage and corn tortillas. Chef Chad Luethje even hosts cooking demonstrations where you can learn to make some of your favorite dishes from Canyon Breeze.

Find your spiritual side

Perhaps you’re hoping to find some of life’s deeper meaning on your wellness retreat. Red Mountain Resort’s personal discovery experiences will put you in touch with your spiritual side and help you develop meaningful rituals you can take home. You can sign up for chakra balancing, a shamanic healing session, an ancient Peruvian fire ceremony and crystal workshops, among other mystical encounters.

You might gain new insight on your life while taking a meditative stroll through the Spiral Walk, engage in a thoughtful discussion over dinner with new friends at the community table or reflect on your place in the universe while stargazing from Paradise Point Patio.

Red Mountain Resort offers endless opportunities to get whatever it is you’re seeking on a retreat—you just have to come with an open mind, a full heart and a willingness to embrace every opportunity at this special place.
