After a holiday break, I come back with some fresh ideas to help you start 2019 with bullet journaling. You can find many great articles on how it can change your whole life. Anyway, today I’d like to focus on one of the most common New Year’s Resolution: weight loss. Here I gathered the best weight loss journal ideas you want to create in your notebook right now.

As you know, I’m not a great fan of all this “from January 1 I’m going to be a whole new person” bullshit. Here’s the thing: it’s only a date. You can start over every single day. However, I do strongly believe in setting goals. If you want to check out the best way to do it, read the article I wrote three weeks ago:

Level 10 Life Bullet Journal Layouts To Keep Track Of Your 2019 Goals

Maybe you noticed that one of my life’s area I rated the lowest are fitness and nutrition. Let’s face it: I’m not in good shape. And as much I hate New Year’s Resolutions, I want to plan how to get my healthy body back.

To be completely honest, instead of writing “weight loss” or “diet”, I prefer using words like “fit body”, “healthy lifestyle”. As I was a teenager, all girls wanted to have a Kate Moss body. Many of us had eating disorders. We tried so many unhealthy diets.

Luckily, the world is changing: now you can watch Ashley Graham on the runway, Robyn Lawley on Vogue cover. However, I can’t believe that although a body positive trend is so in now, you can still find such “great” articles like how to lose 10 pounds in 6 days, etc.

Nevertheless, with the power of self-acceptance and self-love, you want to stay fit and healthy. Grab a notebook and create 5 spreads that are the most crucial for getting back in shape.

Sidenote: because every time you asked me what bullet journal notebook I use.. As always I highly recommend a Dingbats notebook.

You know that you can weigh 120 pounds but your body still looks floppy. That’s why you should create measurements spread instead of weight tracker. You don’t want to be a scale slave.

I think even about skipping this kind of layout. After all, the most important thing is to feel good in your body. It’s the best way to track your weight loss goals.

“Get fit in the gym, lose weight in the kitchen”

I couldn’t agree more. However, instead of counting each calorie (it’s so painful), focus on what you eat. Meal planning is a great way to plan (and control) healthy meals that nourish your body and soul.

If you’re a couch potato like me, it’s quite challenging to find the right type of physical activity. What on Earth motivates me to move my butt from the cozy sofa? Well, I don’t know what’ll work for you but 10 000 steps per day at the beginning of the road sounds reasonable for me.

Stay hydrated. Drinking about 4 liters of water every day cleanses the toxins from the body and helps to get healthy, feel more energized and lose weight.

Do not underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep. If you sleep less than 6 hours, your metabolism slows down. In the same time, you’re constantly hungry. In result, you eat more than you really need.

I know that some of you prefer using bullet journal printables instead of creating own spreads in a notebook. Here I gathered the best weight loss bullet journal printables.

As with all your goals. Once you have that specific and realistic goal. Break it down.

I always break my goals into actionable steps and trackable things that I can mark off as I move towards my goal. Each time I get to tick something, even small that’s part of my goal I feel super accomplished and it keeps me motivated.

Make sure you put all those actionable steps in your planner or journal. With dates and when you want to accomplish them by.

Before I show you some of the best health spreads for bullet journals, it is super important to become really clear on your goal.

Setting a specific and SMART goal is the first step in making those dreams happen.

Head over to my post on “How To Set Goals With A Bullet Journal” for more help with your goal setting.

Once you have your SMART goal it’s a great idea to set up to succeed. This means making sure you have everything in place that is going to help you make those big dreams come true.

And I don’t mean that you need to spend hundreds of dollars on a gym membership and fancy gym gear.

Have a serious think about what is realistic for you… and also what you enjoy. The key to making your goals happen is to be realistic and to follow your joy. If you don’t enjoy something, you won’t stick to it.

For example, if you need to move more to make your goal happen, think about what fun things you can do to make that happen. Getting a Fitbit to count steps and walking with friends. Or sign up to that Latin Dance class with your partner.

I am working on my fitness goal journal pages to make those big health dreams come true. See below.

My goal is to improve my overall health and fitness so I broke it into smaller goals.

For this month I am going to achieve the following:

  • Move my body every day: walks, dance, game with the kids etc.
  • Reach 10k steps a day: I recommend getting a step counter.
  • Drink 8 glasses of water daily.
  • Practice self care: something nice I do for myself.
  • Meal plan and prep for the week.

To accomplish that I have come up with actionable steps so I can track them.

Here is an example of my own personal weight loss and fitness journal.

I hope my fitness bullet journal can inspire you to use your bujo for better health too.

Below I have some more great ideas to help you work towards specific health and fitness goals and make your own DIY weight loss journal.

Just saying ‘I want to get fit’ isn’t going to be a useful goal. Instead, have a specific goal then break it down into those important and trackable actions!

  • Habit Trackers for Weight loss

There are a few things I personally track when I am trying to lose weight but these will, of course, be unique to you.

I find that I am an emotional eater ( chocolate and ice-cream all the way if I am feeling a little low). So for me, a Mood Tracker is really helpful to see any patterns with my moods. I can then find a way to help plan ahead and stop the emotional eating.
